All the batteries must be visually inspected before use
Inspection
- Visual Inspection
- Terminals: Inspect both terminals (positive and negative) for signs of corrosion, discoloration, or loose grasshopper nuts. Ensure the terminals are not bent or damaged. Clean any corrosion using a clean cloth or a terminal cleaning tool if necessary.
- Case Integrity: Inspect the battery casing for cracks, dents, bulges, or any deformation. Concentrate around the terminals, seams, and corners.
- Labels and Markings: Ensure that all labels are intact and legible, including name and serial number
- Leaking Fluids: Look for signs of leakage, such as dried residue or liquid near the terminals or seams.
- Cleanliness
- Use a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt or residue from the battery's surface and terminals.
- Do not use water or cleaning agents
Test and Check-in
- Documentation
- AT LEAST 30 MINUTES OFF THE CHARGERÂ
- Give the battery a number (ex: 2501-B-9)
- Take pre-voltage
- Discharger: select custom, 18 amps, 9.7 V
- After full discharge, collect post-voltage, capacity and charged internal resistance
- Put the battery on the charger
- Keep going until all of the batteries went through at least 2 rounds of testing
If you see any major issues, report them to mentor/put a warning sticker on
